OCT-NOV-DEC

PERKS FOR YOU!

Again this fall, FOL members will be treated to some very special programs at no charge if they've paid their dues.   Guests are always welcome by paying just two dollars.

October 10th(Monday) brings back Bob Leibensperger to portray Cornelius Aultman, a giant figure in the history of Canton.  He describes Aultman as a visionary, entrepreneur, philanthropist and community leader. Bob is a retired Timken executive.

November 1st(Tuesday)* is when Al Albacete will return to share more experiences with us.  He will recount his trip to Israel and Rome with Rabbi John Spitzer and a tour group from Walsh University.  Al is  Exec. Director of the Canton Museum of Art.

*A card mailed previously had the wrong day for this.

December 6th(Tuesday) features the Handbell Choirs of Trinity United Church of Christ performing festive music of the holiday season.   This evening program will be free to the public.

The October and November programs will take place in the Main Library's McKinley Room at 10:30 a.m. Coffee and refreshments at 10:00 a.m.   The December program will welcome everyone to the larger Atrium area at 6:00 p.m.

Note:  We welcome feedback, and smilingly report that a wag asked if we call these programs “perks” because we precede them with coffee.   He was urged to look up perk and perquisite in the dictionary.

CLEVELAND BUS TRIP

“TRAVEL WITH FRIENDS”

Award winning author Michael Pollan, best known for “The Omnivore’s Dilemma” (and the suggestion that we not eat anything our great-grandmothers wouldn't recognize as food), will be on stage at Playhouse Square in Cleveland on October 24th.    Once again FOL members can combine effortless travel, reserved seating and a tasty Panera supper for a budget-respecting cost to hear him.  Michael’s latest book is In Defense of Food and the hilarious Food Rules.

Michael Pollan is down to earth.  He's been exposed to almost everything as a journalist.  His sense of humor is enviable.  If you have not experienced an evening in Cleveland sans parking nuisance, ask Carol in the FOL office for some names of people who discovered the FOL combination  previously.   She can take your reservation. The cost will be the same as last year,$60 for members, $70 for guests.
